Nurse Practitioner (APRN)/Physician Assistant – Surgical Intensive Care Unit – (17151288)

Advanced Practitioner (AP)
Surgical ICU – Hartford Hospital Unit C8
Full Time: 40 hours
Weekend/Off Shift/Holiday rotation required.
(Premium differentials offered.)
Will consider candidates for permanent nights.

Hartford Hospital’s C8 is a 14-bed Surgical ICU  that cares for multiple surgical patient populations including: general surgery, trauma, vascular, thoracic, liver transplants and other critical care patients as service needs dictate. These patients may require multiple technologies or advanced life support including: hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical ventilation, continuous veno-venous hemofiltration (CVVH), nitric oxide (NO), and multiple vasoactive drug therapies. The AP provider responsibilities includes  invasive bedside procedures, for which training will be provided during orientation for candidates that do not have this skill set.

The critical care team is committed to creating an innovative patient centered delivery system that continuously improves quality care. The AP providers are part of a multidisciplinary team that plans and delivers care for this complex population under the direction of the attending intensivist, and in collaboration with primary attending, critical care fellows, residents and other consultants.

Qualifications
Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner (APRN) Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Program. Current Connecticut  PA/APRN license. Federal DEA, and CT Controlled Substance Registration. Critical Care / Stepdown and Surgical experience preferred. ACLS required . Demonstrated ability to positively interact with medical/nursing staff and other members of multidisciplinary team. Willingness to learn and demonstrate proficiency in invasive procedures.
